ICE TD, BR 605
Each of the photos has been made on the rally to
Hersbruck r. d. Peg. and the parade there on July 13th. The weather
was tricky, therefore the time of exposure is sometimes a little
bit long, due to the limitations of the simple pocket camera.
Besides I just want to enjoy the whole atmosphere during such
events. (Thus the photos were made in addition and show documentary
character at best. The hunting for shots I leave to others. (Those
who do it with complete - yet almost overdone - doggedness
;-)
On July 14th shuttle services took place between Hersbruck r. d.
Peg. and Nuremberg, additional special trips in the upper Pegnitz
valley and shuttle services with the Schienenbus (Engl.: rail
coach) Vt 98 in the Schnaittach valley and through the Lehen
valley to Amberg.
The ICE TD BR605, photo on the right, in Rückersdorf was for free.
And not only this one.
Early in the morning shuttle service Nuremberg - Hersbruck r. d. Peg. at the stop in Rückersdorf with 50 3648 and 52 8195. Because of the odd situation, a parallel line (Nuremberg - Amberg - Schwandorf - Regensburg; former Bayerische Ostbahn) running over 30 km to Hersbruck in a distance of less than 3 km on the other, »left«, side of the lower Pegnitz valley, the addition r. d. Peg. (rechts der Pegnitz, Engl.: right of the Pegnitz) is necessary. The Pegnitz is not a large river at all, but a brook by chance just some ten meters wide.
Arrival at circa 9:30
DR Reko-loco 52 8195
Well coaled!
Gear of the 50's

Departure with double traction
Express Train rally to the parade in Hersbruck r. d. Peg. via Nuremberg. Train IV with 03 2295 from Munich, Train VI with 23 1097 from Zwickau and Train VII, VT 98, from Passau came as well. But they approached Hersbruck from the east, so they didn't touch the lower Pegnitz valley and Nuremberg.
Train I: 18 478 and 41 018 from Augsburg at circa 10:30
Train V: 01 509 and 01 1066 from Stuttgart at circa 11:10
Train III: 01 118 from Frankfurt/Main at circa 11:30
Extraordinary and probably the world's fastest steam locomotive in full working order, approved for 180 km/h (about 112 mph).
Train II: 18 201 from Berlin in Lauf at circa 13:10
Departure at the end of the train
At the parade in Hersbruck
Exceptional problems caused by the failures of a signal box and that of a modern diesel locomotive (its control computer hung up ;-) led to a delay of 1¾ hours, but then it worked fine. And even the weather held out. Great, the departure of the special trains after the end of the parade.
Decorated 52 8195 jubilee loco
